IMEI tracking for phone shops
Every phone has its own IMEI number. Recording it for each phone you stock tells you exactly which device you bought, sold or got back — not just how many.
Why IMEI tracking matters
- Returns and warranty: when a customer brings a phone back, you can confirm it is the one you sold them.
- Stolen or swapped devices: a recorded IMEI helps you prove where a phone came from and where it went.
- Accurate stock: nine iPhones on the shelf means nine IMEI records, so missing units are easy to spot.
- Customer trust: the IMEI or serial can appear on the receipt the customer takes home.
How StockSwift tracks each phone
- Add a product and enter one IMEI or serial number per unit. Scan it with your phone's camera or type it.
- Pick each unit's condition — New, Used (Like new, Good, Fair), Refurbished or Faulty.
- When you sell, choose the exact unit. Stock counts come from the units you have left.
- If a phone comes back, mark it as returned from Inventory or Receipts.
- Open Product History and search an IMEI to see when that phone was added, sold and returned.
Tips for your shop
- Record the IMEI the moment a phone arrives, before it goes on display.
- Dial *#06# on a phone to show its IMEI and check it matches the box.
- Use serial numbers for laptops, tablets and accessories that have no IMEI.
